Therapy for Men

You may be successful in your career, financially secure or someone others count on. But that doesn't mean you have everything figured out.

Maybe you're dealing with anxiety, depression, stress, ADHD, anger or relationship problems. Maybe you feel stuck, disconnected or overwhelmed. Or maybe you simply recognize that some parts of your life could be better.

If you're a man who wants to grow, take responsibility and make meaningful changes in your life, we may be a good fit.

I work with entrepreneurs, business owners, corporate professionals, first responders, healthcare workers, educators, creatives, athletes and more. I work with husbands, fathers, brothers, sons, straight-laced guys, rough-and-rugged guys and men from all walks of life.

I believe therapy can be practical and straightforward. It doesn't have to be jargon-heavy or involve me constantly asking, "So how does that make you feel?"

One reason I became a licensed therapist in my mid-40s is because of my own experiences in therapy. Too often, I found myself talking endlessly about my feelings without learning much about what I could actually do differently.

I'd leave feeling better, but I wasn't necessarily getting better.

I wanted something more practical. Someone I could relate to. Someone who would listen, challenge me when necessary and give me tools I could use in my everyday life.

That's the kind of therapist I try to be.

I'm a husband, father, former Division I athlete and someone who had a career and life before becoming a therapist. I consider myself a regular guy who happens to be a licensed therapist. My style is probably closer to a compassionate coach than what you might expect from traditional therapy.

I'll listen. I'll ask questions. I'll challenge you when necessary. And I'll help you develop practical tools you can use outside our sessions.

But here's something important: I'm not going to do the work for you.

Meaningful change takes effort. It takes honesty, humility and a willingness to look at yourself, including the parts you might not particularly like.

I believe in taking responsibility for what we can control. We can't always control what happens to us, but we can learn to better manage how we think, communicate and respond.

My approach is collaborative and practical. We'll talk about what's happening, identify what may be keeping you stuck and figure out what you can do between sessions. I use evidence-based approaches including CBT, ACT and DBT.

I also created "The 7 Habits of Mentally Strong Men." These are ideas I explore with male clients to help them enjoy healthier lives.

But therapy isn't about fitting you into a particular technique. It's about understanding your experiences, relationships, values, strengths and the life you want to build. That might mean feeling less anxious. Being more confident. Improving your relationships. Handling anger differently. Getting unstuck. Communicating assertively instead of passively or aggressively. Becoming a better husband or father. Or simply feeling more like yourself.

You don't need to have everything figured out before reaching out. You just need to be willing to start.

Thank you, sincerely, for taking the time to be here. I wish you and your loved ones good health and happiness!
